Al’s Ironical Song

It is ironical, mostly because it will be highly forwarded.

I thought long about sending it to a few people just because it is funny (the line about urban legends and Snopes is particularly so), but I thought I’d post it so people can choose to watch or not, no delete key needed.

Ministry of Alien Silly Walks

When I was younger, oh so younger, I found the movie Alien to be fascinating. I am not sure why. I read all about it, including the alternate story lines, how the sets were made, everything. I even knew that there was a guy named Bolaji Badejo who wore the Alien suit.

When I saw this print of Alien Silly Walks on laughingsquid, I nearly fell out of my chair. I found the way the tongue comes out near the end most amusing.

Shark in boat!

Casually churning the water conducting a scientific study with sardines, minding your own business when, wham! out of the water comes a 9 foot shark into your boat.

I get flack for having bad dreams about sharks, but I maintain that they will follow you home, wait outside your door, then get you when you’re going to work.

My neighbors snigger when I leave the house looking around every corner. Ha! I will have the last laugh, I tell you. Just look, jumping sharks.

More about this.

Fuzzy Nation

I picked up the audiobook of Fuzzy Nation first thing this morning. I wanted to stay up and buy it after midnight, but like Mr. Scalzi, I am forty-two and need my sleep! Although, I do get up fairly early, so I have that going for me.

I started listening over my Slow Carb breakfast and listened all the way into work. I laughed so hard at one point that the man sitting next to me on BART switched seats. I have to remember that for future reference.

Wil Wheaton does a great job as a reader on the audiobook. One of my primary measures of a good reader is that the performance doesn’t get in the way of the story. In this case Wil does a terrific job. Even better, Wil enhances the story with his performance. There are a couple of times (so far) where he sounds like he is trying his best not to laugh at the story. That adds a level of genuine participation that makes listening that much better.

John will be in San Francisco this Sunday at 5pm and I hope to visit him again. Last time he was in SF, I was lucky enough to record his and Mary Robinette Kowal’s performances. I hear there might be interpretive dance, some heartfelt acoustic rock stylings, and possibly a tattoo raffle. Definitely bringing my audio recorder, just in case.

Mailchimp Love…

Um, I mean…That sounds a bit awkward, so let me clarify. I use Mailchimp to send out email blasts for several different services. It is an awesome service delivered with fun and quality.

When I login, there is a header that has Freddy, the Mailchimp, along with a random saying. Only every so often do I click on the links – today I did and was glad I did.

Below are the header and video…
