It took Bill Bryson a lot longer to walk this trail… After reading his book, I had a desire to either walk part of it or at least see it somehow.
Kevin Gallagher has transformed his six month hike along the Trail into a five minute motion stop video to satisfy my whim.

My sister made this incredible cake for my birthday. I love playing pool (billiards, snooker, etc).

If you have looked around this site, you’ll notice that the posts to-date have been made by me. The title does say “Thing of Interest to Lisa and John”. This is because I’ve been negligent in showing Lisa how to use this WordPress thing. Bad, John, bad.
So, who is Lisa? Well for one, she’s the light of my life. For another, she runs this really cool business called Greetings by the Yard (yes, that is right, Yard). How do you greet by a yard, you ask… Well, it is not saying ‘Hi’ every three feet, I can tell you that much.
This company has such a cool concept. Let’s say you want to surprise someone because they are having a birthday, graduating, or whatever. They will come by at night and setup a whole yard full of things (cows, flamingoes, or candles for example), so when the person wakes up in the morning they are greeted by their yard… so to speak.
I know what you might be thinking, who cleans up that yard-full of things. They come by that night and pick it all up for you. Neat and tidy, just like that.
The other part is they put a big personalized sign up with a saying, like “Happy Flocking Birthday!” for flamingos, or “Holy Cow, we herd it’s your birthday!” for the cows.

The other amazing thing she is doing is she is a member of the Board of Directors for Unity Center of Walnut Creek. I’ll just come out and say this is a church. Whatever your views are on religion, organized or otherwise, this is an amazing church. They are what is called New Thought and they embrace all paths to enlightenment. I won’t go on too much about this now, but if you are interested there is a podcast site of weekly sermons that will give you a good idea of what it is about.
